I'm sorry but I don't speak german so I'll write in english (wich is a second language for me as I'm a french speaking person living in Quebec, Canada). I found your problem on Internet and translated it with a software so I had to "decode" it a bit...

The fact is that I have the same problem with two PCs we bought for our office. All Travelmate 4650 notebooks. I tried to install 4 different PCMCIA cards without success. When I insert them, Windows (XP SP2) recognize them, install the driver and I never get any error message. BUT ! when I try to use them, with a software for example, it fails.

I even tried a network card.... that one has never been able to get an IP adress. An Acer Rep came to the office and tried all my PCMCIA card on his Travelmate 8100 notebook and guess what ! All the card work fine ! It seems that Acer has trouble with their PC Card slot...

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one to have problem with this ! If you call Acer support, and tell them that others got the same kind of troubles, maybe they will do something...

Actually, my reseller told me to get a Case number from Acer directly (a kind of RMA for returning the unit). My reseller decided to order a new unit, keep my hard drive to put it in the new one... It seems to be the only way !
Hope this will help you !

Hi!

Thank's for your support / information.
Vodafone will try to send me another PCMCIA-UMTS-Card (Quad-Band).
I will report later, if the new interface will work (or not).

Hi!

I'am back again.

Vodafone-Business-Support sent me a new UMTS-Card (Qualcomm GT 3G Quad) and it works fine! My Acer TravelMate 4650 Notebook did not have that PCMCIA-Slot-Failure (puhhh!).

Thank's once again for your information.

Hallo,
