Linux erkennt keine Festplatte, Windows dagegen schon

Ich habe ein Toshiba Qosmio G10 und möchte Linux installieren, jedoch findet Linux keine Festplatten. Das verrückte ist aber, dass Windows einwandfrei funktioniert

Erstmal einige Informationen zu meinem Notebook:
Prozessor: Intel Centrino (1,8GHz)
RAM: 1024 Gb
Chipsatz: Intel 915PM Express-Chipsatz
Video: NVIDIA Go 6600 (PCI Express)
HDD: Fujitsu mit 60 GB (IDE)

Wie bereits geschrieben funktioniert Windows XP wunderbar, jedoch lässt sich kein Linux installieren. Ich habe es mit Ubuntu, Fedora und Knoppix versucht.
Ich habe mehrere Festplatten ausprobiert, also liegt es schonmal nicht an den Festplatten.

Mir ist aufgefallen, dass die HDD-LED dauerhaft leuchtet (wenn ich Linux von CD starte. Bei Windows ist alles i.o.)

Ich bin zwar kein Linux-Noob, jedoch ist mein Wissen begrenzt. Warscheinlich habe ich die hälfte aller interessanten Fehlermeldungen übersehen, jedoch ist mir folgendes aufgefallen:

ich habe ein ganz ähnliches NB (FSC E8020D) mit dem selben Chipsatz unter CentOS4.6, bzw 5.4. Als was läuft dein SATA? IDE oder kompatibel? Ich habe die Wahl zwischen AHCI, Kompatibel und SATA native. Alle drei werden sehr unterscheidlich unterstützt. Am Besten geht derzeit AHCI (seit Kernel 2.6.18+). Der Kompatible Modus ist zwar super kompatibel zu Winxy aber er emuliert halt nur was Linxu nicht gerne hat. Stell doch mal um (da du scheinbar auch den ICH6 drinnen hast wie ich), dann geht zwar dein Win nicht mehr so einfach (habe hier im Board aber einen Patch eingestellt um dies vorab zu "Verabreichen"; such nach AHCI und sam).
So wie ich dein dmesg interpretiere hast du den Kompa Modus aktiv;

Es ist ja keine SATA Festplatte. Es ist eine IDE.
Steht aber auch ganz oben.

Das BIOS ist übrigens ein wahres disaster. Also die Uhrzeit kann man mehr oder weniger problemlos einstellen. Das war es aber auch schon.

Hast Du mal geschaut ob es ein Update dafür gibt? Hast Du mal die üblichen Vorgehensweisen (über Bootparameter) z.B ohne Apm und Acpi versucht?
Guggst Du hier, vielleicht hilft das weiter, zumindest hat er es ja (mit einem älteren Linux) geschafft... face-wink

Danke für die Info, doch leider ist mein BIOS schon das Aktuellste.
Deinen Link kenn ich auch schon. War so ziemlich das erste was ich gefunden habe, als ich nach meinem Notebook in Verbindung mit Linux gefunden habe.
Jedoch denke ich, dass das Problem möglicherweise daran liegt, dass ich ja ein anderes Mainboard drin habe, als die meisten Qosmio G10-Benutzer. Toshiba hat ein neues Mainboard für dieses Notebook entwickelt.
Naja, genau dieses hab ich drin.
Die Änderungen liegen an der Grafikkarte und dem Chipsatz. Desshalb dachte ich, dass es Probleme mit dem Chipsatz geben könnte.

Mal sehen was mir die Bootparameter bringen.

Hi
SATA und PATA sind beide IDE HD Ausführungen, aber ich verstehe was du meinst. Die Qosmio (G10/G20/G30) sind sehr eigene Modelle (wir haben hier auch einige Modelle mit XP schon viel Spaß gehabt, obwohl nur ein normaler ICH verwendet wird, sind die XP Treiber von Intel diese Reihe gesperrt laufen aber damit. Wie du den Kernel dazu bringst den PATA Modus als Intel zu sehen....

Ich hab die Lösung.
Es ist eigentlich ganz einfach zu lösen, nur verstehe ich nicht warum das so ist face-smile

Das Notebook habe ich von jemanden bekommen da es defekt war. Ich habe bei E-Bay ein neues Mainboard gekauft und es eingebaut.
Nun hat dieses Notebook 2 Festplattenanschlüsse. Ich hatte immer nur einen verwendet, da ich dachte der 2. geht nicht. Immer als ich die 2. Festplatte angeschlossen hatte, wollte dieses Teil nicht mehr hochfahren.
Also hab ich nur eine angeschlossen und alles ging prima. Ich habe sogar vergessen, dass ich eigentlich 2 Festplattenanschlüsse hatte...
Naja nun komm ich mal zur Sache:
An den tollen IDE Festplatten hat man ja noch diese wunderbaren Jumper...

Eine war auf Device 0 und eine auf Device 1.
Ich wollte mal probieren was passiert, wenn ich beide auf Cable-Selected stelle. Das Problem war, dass ich nur einen Jumper hatte. Also hab ich beide mal auf Device 0 gestellt (also keinen Jumper setzten).
Und schwups ging das Teil mit 2 Festplatten...
Linux installiert...
Ging.

Wenn mir jetzt noch einer erklären kann warum ich beide auf Device 0 stellen musste, dann möge er jetzt sprechen oder für immer schweigen :D

Wenn ich beide Festplatten auf CS stelle, dann fährt der Computer nicht mehr hoch. Seltsam, seltsam

Ich habe jetzt mal Ubuntu 10.04 installiert.
Jetzt geht Windows XP nicht mehr. Mein Laptop startet einfach neu. Bei Ubuntu 9.10 ging alles wunderbar.

wenn beide HDs an unterschiedlichen Adaptern hängen muß es immer Dev0 sein (vermutlich wird dein System zwei getrennte Ports haben); CS muß vom Controller unterstützt werden um zu laufen; das Original Toshi BIOS ist sehr spärlich und hat sich in 15 JAhren nicht wirklich verändert. Wenn man normale Consumer BIOSe kennt ist es sehr leer...
Für dein XP: formatiere eine Disk unter windows, kopiere die ntldr, NTDETECT.COM, boot.in auf die Disk dann kannst du probieren ob es so funktioniert (dann ist wohl nur dein NT Loader beschädigt (=GRUB) oder die boot.ini sucht die falsche Partition ab; Mit Floppy sieht man auch schnell an welchem Dateistadium er den Reset auslöst (zuerst startet der ntldr, dieser holt die boot.ini und dann nach Auswahl kommt die NTDETECT.COM. Am fragilsten ist der ntldr, da er nur mit wenigen Situationen auskommt. Hast du das auch jetzt mit nur einer Disk am laufen? Ansonsten hat sich evtl dein HD Schema verändert.

Danke für die Information mit Dev0. Nur ist das ziemlich komisch, da man beim alten Board eine Festplatte mit Device 0 und eine mit Device 1 laufen lassen musste.
Die lassen sich echt was einfallen, damit man das Board bei denen einbauen lässt.

Ich habe jetzt 2 HDD's am laufen.

da sdb deine Ubuntu HD ist sieht eigentlich alles gut aus; kann aber sein das Grub die Part. deaktiviert hat (boot attrib ist aber richtig gesetzt)?! Mit der Bootdisk geht das einfach heraus zu finden; sofern du keine hast (ebay Kauf) habe ich addHoc nur eine der zahlreichen BootCDs mit einem NTloader Profil auf Lager, bzw diese obige Disk als Image abzuspeichern und auf CD zu brennen als Floppy Emu.

Ja, die boot attribute waren okay.
Aber ich habe es jetzt hinbekommen.
Ich habe mit der Windows-Reperaturkonsole den Windows Bootloader wiederhergestellt und festgestellt, dass Windows gar nicht mehr geht.
Die Fehlersuche dauerte mir zu lange, also habe ich meine Daten mit dem guten alten Linux gerettet, meine Windows unattended CD gezogen, mich zurückgelehnt und Windows neuinstalliert.
Danach habe ich mit einer Ubuntu CD grub wiederhergestellt...
Und siehe da, es geht.
