OpenVPN mit Lancom 1721 VPN
Hallo,
ich habe hier in der Firma einen Lancom 1721 VPN stehen. Dieser wird schon für VPN genutzt zusammen mit dem LANCOM Advanced VPN Client. Meine Frage wäre nun ob schon mal jemand versucht hat die
Verbindung OpenVPN Portable oder ähnlichen Clients aufzubauen, das bekomme ich irgendwie nicht hin, wäre da um jede Hilfe dankbar. Will auch nicht unbedingt den VPN Server auf dem Server installieren, sondern schon die VPN fähigkeit des Routers nutzen.

Hier ein Auszug aus dem OpenVPN HowTo was du lesen solltest um es zu verstehen in der Hoffnung das du dem Englischen mächtig bist:
Does OpenVPN support IPSec or PPTP?
There are three major families of VPN implementations in wide usage today: SSL, IPSec, and PPTP. OpenVPN is an SSL VPN and as such is not compatible with IPSec, L2TP, or PPTP.
The IPSec protocol is designed to be implemented as a modification to the IP stack in kernel space, and therefore each operating system requires its own independent implementation of IPSec.
By contrast, OpenVPN's user-space implementation allows portability across operating systems and processor architectures, firewall and NAT-friendly operation, dynamic address support, and multiple protocol support including protocol bridging.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches. The principal advantages of OpenVPN's approach are portability, ease of configuration, and compatibility with NAT and dynamic addresses. The learning curve for installing and using OpenVPN is on par with that of other security-related daemon software such as ssh.
Historically, one of IPSec's advantages has been multi-vendor support, though that is beginning to change as OpenVPN support is beginning to appear on dedicated hardware devices.
While the PPTP protocol has the advantage of a pre-installed client base on Windows platforms, analysis by cryptography experts has revealed security vulnerabilities.
Da dein Lancom IPsec benutzt für seine VPN kannst du dir mit dem oben gelesenen deine Schlüsse ziehen aus dem Vorhaben einen IPsec Server mit OpenVPN zu koppeln. Beachte den Schlüsselsatz: "OpenVPN is an SSL VPN and as such is not compatible with IPSec, L2TP, or PPTP" !

ich verstehe auch nicht, warum man unbedingt ein fremdprodukt anwenden will, wenn doch der VPN-Client recht gut funktioniert. Sollen es Kostengründe sein, dann fährt man eh besser mit der Fritzbox.

Oder noch besser mit einem Draytek denn der supportet ALLE VPN Protokolle und nicht nur IPsec only wie die FB.
Mal abgesehen davon das die Konfiguration auch erheblich einfacher ist damit als mit der FB !
