Windows SRV 2003 - Auto Update soll Installation selber verursacht haben
Hallo allen,
schildere kurz was heute passiert ist damit ihr meine Schlussfrage ev. auch versteht.
Kunde hat ein 2 Node Cluster, plötzlich erhalte ich von ihm einen Anruf das er nicht mehr Drucken kann weil scheinbar ein Node runtergefahren ist und er diesen danach wieder manuell Swapen musst.
Auf diesem Node läuft hauptsächlich die ERP Datenbank und einge Fileshares.
Da ich den Clusterserver so wie die anderen Server immer manuell Update damit ich auch sicher bin das diese wieder einwandfrei laufen, hab ich die Updates so eingestellt das Sie zwar runtergeladen werden aber ich entscheiden was und "WANN" sie zu installieren sind.
Nun bekomme ich vom zuständige ERP Spezi der auch Zugriff auf diesen Server hat, eine Mail mit CC an den Kunden das es der Windows Update war der den Node neugestartet hat. Da ich eigentlich täglich mit diesen Server zu tun habe kann ich bestätigen dass das Popup betreffend Update und das gelbe Schild in der Taskleiste erschienen, aber wenn man nicht manuell diese ausführt ja auch nix installliert wird.
Nun verlangt der Kunde von mir eine Erklärung warum das passiert ist. Ja toll wie will man das erklären. Ich vermute das irgendeiner die Installation ausgeführt hat, doch wie will ich das beweisen?

Was mich hier stützig macht ist dieser Teil: AU setting pending client directive to 'Install Approval'
Kann es sein das Windows Update selber installiert? Mir ist da nix bekannt und alle anderen Server bei diesem wie bei anderen Kunden auch haben es auch nicht gemacht.
Sieht man irgenwo wenn es manuell ausgeführt wurde?
Für jeden Hinweis oder eigene Erfahrungsberichte bin ich euch dankbar.

aber für das *rauskriegen* - Du mußt über die Policies das Logging vom Eventlog hochdrehen, dann siehste das auch - geht aber nicht im Nachgang....

Zunächst: ich hab noch nicht gehört, dass die Einstellung mal nicht hinhaut und der Server macht, worauf er Lust hat.
Aber ist das das ganze windowsupdate.log aus der Zeit? Da wird doch gar nichts installiert. Reich mal das komplette Log des Tages nach.

zuerst zu 2hard4you:
Die Verfügbarkeit war ja auch nicht das Problem sie konnte in ihrerer Exotischen ERP arbeiten, das heisst DB und ERP haben sauber geswappt. Die Drucker sind auch geclustert und funktionieren auch bei "Standardanwendungen", Leider kann das diese super "günstige" ERP eben nicht, da man dort die Drucker noch manuell eintragen muss bzw. so von denen so gemacht ist. Kann leider nicht in die ERP eingreifen, ist ein Fall für sich.

Eben ich hab das selber auch noch nie erlebt oder gehört. Der ERP Spezi ( und der soll auch nur das machen) hat ihm nun diesen Wurm in den Kopf gesetzt und ich muss das beweisen oder bzw. das Gegenteil.

Die Verfügbarkeit war ja auch nicht das Problem sie konnte in ihrerer Exotischen ERP arbeiten, das heisst DB und ERP haben sauber geswappt. Die Drucker sind auch geclustert und funktionieren auch bei "Standardanwendungen", Leider kann das diese super "günstige" ERP eben nicht, da man dort die Drucker noch manuell eintragen muss bzw. so von denen so gemacht ist. Kann leider nicht in die ERP eingreifen, ist ein Fall für sich.

Eben ich hab das selber auch noch nie erlebt oder gehört. Der ERP Spezi ( und der soll auch nur das machen) hat ihm nun diesen Wurm in den Kopf gesetzt und ich muss das beweisen oder bzw. das Gegenteil.

Wie soll's denn da zum Neustart gekommen sein? Es fand doch gar keine Installation statt.
Lies nochmal, was im Eventlog steht um den Zeitpunkt des Herunterfahrens herum. Wenn Windowsupdate den Reboot ausgelöst hat, steht das da immer.

Tja das komische ist das sie eben installiert sind, Popup und Schild sind weg. Bei allen anderen Servern sind sie noch da.
