Welches Linux nutzt der ESX3 Server
Hallo
folgendes Ausgangslage, ich will einen den ESX3 Server auf einem HP Proliant 8000 installieren. Leider kennt der ESX Server den HP 4250 RAID Controller nicht. Jetzt war meine Idee einfach den passenden Linux Treiber einschieben und weiter gehts.
Nun weiss ich aber nicht auf welcher Distribution der ESX Server aufsetzt. Hat da jemand einen Tip für mich?

soweit ich weis ist das ein RedHat Derivat. Allerdings würd' ich einen produktiven ESX nicht auf einer Hardware aufsetzen die nicht auf der VMWARE HCL steht.

Gar keines. ESX ist sein eigenes Betriebssystem.
Aus der VMware Doku:
Linux Driver Compatibility
While ESX Server software itself is not derived from Linux, it includes a Linux compatibility module to allow Linux storage and networking drivers to be adapted and
recompiled for ESX Server hosts. This enables VMware and VMware partners to more easily support a wide range of high?performance devices and eases the driver
porting effort on the storage and networking device vendors. ...
It is not possible to directly load existing, precompiled, Linux device driver binaries onto an ESX Server host.

Ja für prod.syst. ist die HW zu alt, aber zum Testen & spielen genau richtig, der "Rollschrank".
Schade, ich hatte gehofft das man da einen Treiber einschieben kann, danke trotzdem
