Thinstation
Guten Abend
Ich möchte gerne mit Thinstation über s Netzwerk booten.
Aber ich weiss nicht welche Sachen ich genau beim DHCP Server vom IPCop eingeben muss.
Und ob ich noch was an dem Boot File "thinstation.nbi.zpxe" ändern muss.
Das file habe ich in den root ordner des TFTP Servers kopiert

Hallo,
an der Datei "thinstation.nbi.zpxe" musst du eigentlich nichts ändern, aber du brauchst eine "thinstation.nbi"-Datei.
Als gute Hilfe, die dich für die komplette Einrichtung von Thinstation begleitet, empfehle ich dir:

Falls du noch fragen hast, kannst du dich gerne an mich wenden. Ich verwende Thinstation sowohl per Netzwerkboot als auch auf der Festplatte der Clients installiert, die von einem Thinstation-Server die Konfigurationen, Gruppenzugehörigkeiten und die Terminalserver-Adressen bekommen.

Hallo,
nein, du musst zwei Dateien haben (eine thinstation.nbi und eine thinstation.nbi.zpxe) - die .zpxe ist nur sehr klein und die .nbi wahrscheinlich so zwischen 10 und 15 MB.
Welche Methode willst du denn zum Booten verwenden? Direkt mit Hilfe einer PXE-fähigen Netzwerkkarte oder mit Hilfe einer Bootdiskette, die die Treiber für die Netzwerkkarte(n) lädt und dann das eigentliche Betriebssystem (Thinstation) vom TFTP-Server bootet?

How to avoid using the boot floppy: using a PXE-enabled PC
A lot of today PCs or Notebooks don't need the boot floppy because they directly support remote boot thanks to the PXE standard (this feature is mainly supported by the PC with integrated NIC); some NIC also (the cheepest and most widespread I know is the 25$ '3com 3C905CX-TX-M', note the 'M' in the end) can turn your PC in a PXE-enabled one, as they have a little EEPROM containing the PXE driver. In order to use this capability, simply setup "Network" as your first boot device in the BIOS, and assure that your NIC will use the PXE protocol to network-boot, if it support more than one.
Now, in your DHCP server set as the "Boot file", instead of "thinstation.nbi", the PXE loader ("thinstation.nbi.zpxe"), already included in the TFtpdRoot\ folder.
Finish.
Start your PC and let him directly boot from network, without needs of any boot-floppy...
If you have more than one PC in your network, and some of these are PXE-enabled and some other aren't, no problem: the universal boot floppy you are using is smart enought to exclude the trailing ".zpxe" extension, if presents, from the boot file name, so it will download "thinstation.nbi" anyways...
(Be aware that rom-o-matic floppies don't have this capability)

hast du dir nicht das Prebuilt-Image von Thinstation heruntergeladen?
Über die Seite http://thinstation.sourceforge.net/download.html kannst unter "Prebuilt-Images" ein Image herunterladen, dass die .nbi-Datei enthält.
Leider sieht es im Moment jedoch so aus, als ob der Server nicht erreichbar ist??
Alternativ kannst du dir hier http://tsom.retail-ict.nl/index.php selbst eins erstellen.

OK ich habe mir jetzt so ein image erstellt und die beiden dateien ins tftp root verzeichnis kopiert.
wenn ich jetzt das Notebook starte und vom netzterk boot bekommt er auch eine adresse aber nachher kommt TFTP.....
dann steht dann auf einmal time out

Also jetzt hat es geklappt mit dem TFTP. Aber er bleibt immer stehen er hat glaub ich iregenein Problem mit der .nbi datei. Ich werde woll warten müssen bis der Download Server wieder funktioniert dann kann ich dir genaueres sagen.
