Windows 8 - Default Programme setzen

Hallo zusammen!

Wir nutzen die GPO "Set a default associations configuration file" um diverse Standardprogramme computerweit zu setzen.

z.B. txt, jpg usw.
Wir haben im Image die Browser IE und Chrome.
Um nun das Entscheidungspopup zu verhindern, welchen Standardbrowser der User möchte, haben wir auch htm/html mit in die xml aufgenommen und setzen somit den IE als Standard.

Prinzipiell funktioniert das auch sauber, nur ist man so überhaupt nicht flexibel.
Stellt ein User jetzt den Chrome als Standard ein, so merkt sich der Rechner dies nur bis zur nächsten GPO-Verarbeitung. Dann greift wieder die defaultassociations.xml

Deshalb nun einige Fragen:

Wie regelt ihr das?
Gibt es eine Möglichkeit dies dem User optional zu überlassen, welchen Standard er möchte?
Gibt es noch andere Wege die Default vorzudefinieren?

This policy specifies the path to a file (e.g. either stored locally or on a network location) that contains file type and protocol default application associations. This file can be created using the DISM tool.
For example:
Dism.exe /Online /Export-DefaultAppAssociations:C:\AppAssoc.txt
For more information, refer to the DISM documentation on TechNet.
If this group policy is enabled and the client machine is domain-joined, the file will be processed and default associations will be applied at logon time.
If the group policy is not configured, disabled, or the client machine is not domain-joined, no default associations will be applied at logon time.
If the policy is enabled, disabled, or not configured, users will still be able to override default file type and protocol associations.
